Hey! does anyone have an tips on shaping a Philodendron Congo Green? I live in an apartment in NYC and this plant just takes up so much room. I tried to keep it in a corner and let it grow to one side but then it was getting to heavy. as you can see, it sprawls out a lot and I’m debating pruning the lower, more horizontal leaves cause theres new leaves coming in. LMK what you think

Maybe use a bamboo stake or long moss pole to support some of the leaves? I had to do that with my Philodendron Lickety Split. It still takes up a good amount of space but at least the leaves are going more upwards than to the side.

yeah I have a metal/plastic stake in there now but it definitely needs something sturdier like a moss pole. this plant used to have its lowest leaf die anytime a new leaf came in which was great for keeping the leaves upright but for months none of the lower leaves have died off ahahah

I’m also in an NYC apartment so I get it 🥲 I did end up removing 4-5 leaves off mine but because of some bacteria/fungal infection that was on the plant when I bought it, ending up being a blessing in disguise. Definitely prune it back if you need to!

They do take up a lot of square meters 😂 Prune some of the leaves. You can also give it grow light placed above the plant to help it get more upright leaves.
