I just planted a sprouted apple seed (I started it off with the good old wet paper towel trick) and i’ve never tried growing a tree from scratch before. does anyone have just general tips to ensure it surviving? i’m hoping for some apples in a few years!🤞

i have tried raising a few fruit trees from seed and the main thing i've noticed is that they seem to really like fertilizer once the seedlings get some size on them, they r hungry little things! mine kind of slowed down and stopped growing as they got older until I realized that a low nutrient soil might be ok for starting seeds, but not really for growing them! you probably already know this but if you bought your apple from the store it might not grow true to type. you never know though! best of luck with your seedling!! 🌱💚

How do you know when to fertilize them?

I have a pink lady Apple tree that’s only about 3+ months old. Give them plenty of water. That’s how you get a very thick trunk. Give them plenty of Sun. Make sure they like full Sun first. Get well draining soil. And finally, keep them on a windowsill that is about the same temp as outside to get them acclimated to weather/temp outside. Ex: Sunny hot day outside = Sunny hot window.
