Hi all! Need tips to help this guy thrive. New Colocasia Mojito starter plant. Bought this beauty on Etsy and just got it about 10 days ago. The one leaf is dying - dried out and brown (I just misted before this pic). Bigger leaf is starting to brown and im worried it will die too. I assume mostly has to do with being shipped and the shock with that. Best water and lighting for these? I potted into a well draining soil mix (came is a lil soil nugget), well draining nursery pot, water thoroughly when dry, about a foot from grow light and 3 ft from south window. I mist occasionally. I’ve chopped the dead leaf since these photos. Thanks in advance!

i’m not a pro of course, but if it’s brown and crispy it probably needs more humidity, as my understanding is these and others in the same family need plenty of humidity. It could be shock from being shipped too. Once the shriveling leaf is like that you can take it off so it doesn’t require any more energy that the rest of the plant is gonna want.

This has happened to me with every colocasia that I’ve had shipped. They will go into shock and lost most leaves. Don’t give up though! I bought a black corral colocasia that had about 5 leaves. All shriveled up and died before giving mw new growth! Colocasias need the most humidity you can give them! And they love damp almost wet soil!

Definitely on the humidifier! After I realized humidity was my issue, I ordered a 2 gallon warm mist humidifier and all my tropical plants absolutely love it!! Hoping the best for you and your plant baby as well!!

More moisture! Whether it be misting, or actually putting water on the soil, give it some water.
