Hi, I just bought a ficus a few days ago, and I just picked it up to take a look at it since I notice a very healthy looking leaf fell off, when I went to put it back another one fell off, and that one looks really healthy too. Can someone please explain what is happening? It’s a Ficus Triangularis Varegata. Are some plants really fragile?

I used to work at a greenhouse and I’m pretty sure most Ficuses are just really picky, especially if you move them place to place!

Ok. Thank you so much, I wasn’t sure if it was exactly that, but I just wanted to double check and make sure, someone did bring up how that did happen to their ficus, but how it is doing better. I just hope mine will do better too.

Ficus without enough water can lose their leaves so quickly!

When I brought my first ficus lyrata home, the same thing happened to me. It lost about 75% of its leaves from the shock of moving it from the store to home. I found a good spot for it close to a window where it gets lots of indirect sunlight and no drafts, got it on a regular watering and liquid fertilizer schedule, and now it’s thriving, lots of new leaves. Good luck!
