I need some opinions! I’ve been thinking about adding coffee grounds to my plants for fertilizer, but I don’t want to harm any of my plants. Should I do it? Are there any plants this is specifically good or bad for?

Hello, coffee grounds are high in acid. So they will not be good for plants that prefer alkaline soil. Having said that they are excellent for acid loving plants such as roses, azaleas, rhododendron, blueberries, begonias, hydrangeas, etc. my grandmother used to sprinkle coffee grounds around all of her rosebushes, and she had the most beautiful rose garden in all of Spokane. Just Google acid loving plants you should get more information than your brain can handle! Just remember if your plants love alkaline soil, the acid will burn them and probably kill them at least make them very very sick. So stick to acid loving varieties.

It’s better to use commercially sold fertilizer to make sure your plants get the correct nutrient etc. Additionally the coffee grounds can promote mold and fungus gnats. So I’d recommend it for your compost or outdoor garden and not for potted plants ☺️

When I added coffee grounds the fungus gnats exploded in numbers so I don’t do it anymore 😂🫣
