Has anyone experimented with or used orbeez/water beads in their plants? As I first typed this, I meant with soil, but now I’m curious as to the part hydro aspect. Anyone? :D

Ive tried with both. When i didnt have rocks to help with drainage i used some orbeez at the bottom, cant really say if it did much. But i tried propagating some succulents in the orbeez instead of just water, and that did not go well. They all started dying so i had to get them all into their own shot glasses with water. Maybe plant cuttings would work better. Remember if you try this you will have to rinse the orbeez every so often, they can get moldy and algae always forms in the water (at least for me). There is probably someone who has had better success than i have with it :)

After talking to my brother about it I learned it’s actually a lot harder than it seems. Have to be very very diligent on cleaning and keeping things practically sterile or it can become rife with pathogen. He also said the fertilizer has to be very specific to plant with hydro. So I decided against it lol.
