I couldn’t resist this beauty (Alocasia Frydek) for $5! Any advice to keeping it alive & healthy? Do’s or Don’ts? I got it 3 days ago & haven’t re-potted it yet. It’s sitting next to my humidifier & is in bright indirect light (2 feet away from the window). I live in a colder climate (ND) so it’s going to be a challenge keeping it warm & humid. Should I mist it everyday? Has anyone ever gotten heat lamps for their plants in the winter? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Alocasias are prone to fungus if you mist too often. I recommend getting a humidity/thermometer reader to keep next to them. They can acclimate to colder/ less humid environments. I would say be patient and repot in 50:50 perlite and sphagnum moss with a layer of Leca at the bottom and bottom water them to prevent over watering. You can wipe off the leaves with a damp paper towel or a microfiber rag to help it breathe better as well. Hope this helps!
