Hey everybody! I’m very new to the plant community, and I know that with spring just beginning people are starting to fertilize their plants. What’s a good place to start with fertilizing, and what are some good fertilizers to use for beginners?

Dr. Earth is my preferred brand for roses, tomatoes/herbs, and trees because it’s very forgiving on quantity! I also use water from my fish tanks as fertilizer and it is amazing. If you have any friends or neighbors who keep fish, you can ask them! Any other types of fertilizer that are water-soluble should be easy enough for complete beginners, because you can just throw them in a watering can.

Our nursery recommends dr earth because it’s very beginner friendly. There’s no measuring involved and it’s all organic so there’s no stress of chemicals. Just throw it on top. I personally use to use miracle grow when I started which is a 1-1-1. It’s pretty good for most house plants. Never caused burning. Now that I’m deeper in, I heavily use worm castings and osmocote for slow release fertilizer and jacks 20-20-20 for quick dosage. :)
