Hi, I was wondering were I can buy Cherry Blossom Bonsai seed’s, and which ones would be worth my money. I know they need drainage, and for soil, I think clay, sand, and a potting soil mix would be good, and that I would need to keep it watered once a week. Do I germinate the seed’s? How long do I do that for if so? I know it’s a hard plant, and I do not want to kill it. I think leaving it out of direct sunlight in my room would be fine, because I still get a lot of lighting in there. I would keep it two feet from my window. Also, how many seed’s do I plant, and how far apart? Can they be close together? And I’m really not sure if I have to germinate them. When germinating seed’s, am I supposed to keep them warm?

There isn’t any special seeds that will turn into a bonsai formed cherry tree. So if you want to grow a cherry tree into a bonsai, from seeds, all you need to do is to get a ripe cherry and plant its seed. But turning it into a bonsai will take a lot of patient and pruning. We have very nice articles about caring for your bonsai trees if you’d like to learn more. Just email us on contact@getplanta.com if you’re interested. However, it’s worth noting that cherry trees won’t survive being grown indoors and need a lot of species treatments. The germination method of seeds depends the plant. Cherry pits needs to go through a cold period first (being put in the fridge for a couple of weeks works fine), and then be germinated in a warm and humid environment. Place the pit in a small pot with soil and place it in your sunniest window. Keep the soil moist and wait for it to sprout. It can take a couple of weeks. I would plant one seed per pot since they are trees and will need a lot of space for their roots. Gradually repot them into a slightly larger pot as it growths. After about 1-3 years you can start the process of growing them into bonsai trees.

Thank you so much! I have a huge Cherry Blossom tree in my yard, so I’ll just look for seeds there.

Also, I was wondering, would a green house be good for it?
