Hey! Recently got this orchid and wanted to get opinions. Do these roots look ok? I have them uncovered so I can more easily see when she needs water. Any advice for a new orchid parent?

Yep! They look pretty good to me. Looks like you’ve already got it in a very loose, airy orchid mix with sphagnum moss? That’s perfect, too! As far as watering, you could easily get away with a good soak, once a week, otherwise, definitely go by what the App recommends. I give mine lots of light, fertilizer when needed, and they bloom 2-3 times a year. After the blooms die, I typically just cut the flower spike off. I’ve experimented on leaving them on, and they do rebloom, just not as good. Personal preference, I suppose.

If the roots go brown and soft or mushy, snip them off. They look good to me though. I feed mine periodically with a spray I use on the leaves. My two orchids seem to like it :)
