Easygoing plants that I have not yet seen on any “easy plant” lists yet. 1: Creeping saxifrage/Strawberry begonia This guy is persistently happy despite suffering through fungus gnats and possibly spider mites. I’ve never even seen so much as a dead leaf. 2: Syngoniums. I have three of them and they’re all doing insanely well, even though they’ve also suffered through spider mites and gnats. That’s pretty much the case for all of these. I can’t get rid of the dang gnats :( 3: Bird’s nest fern. I’ve had this fern for at least four years. It’s in a pot with no drainage and I probably severely underwatered and generally mistreated it at several points during its life, but it’s still happy.

I’m new to being a plant mama. I wouldn’t know which plant is which, so I’m wondering if your pics are in order of description? Asking because the one with the elongated ~heart-shaped leaves doesn’t look like it belongs in the fern family. And the syngonium is what looks like a palm (to me) with long green leaves — abd is sitting next to other plants in a window? And then the strawberry begonia is the one on the wood floor? They are all lovely. If these are easy to keep, and I understood which is which, then I think I’ll find them & add to my few plants. Thank you for sharing.

Oops! The photos were supposed to be in order of description, but it looks like they got un-ordered. The one with the heart shaped leaves is the syngonium, the one in the window is the bird’s nest fern, and the one on the floor is the strawberry begonia.

I can confirm that a bird’s nest fern is fool proof! Mine was in a pot with no drainage for about four years and thrived. I just repotted earlier this year because it was getting too big and wobbly for the shallow pot it was in. I haven’t had any pest problems with it even though the plants around it had gotten gnats and spider mites at different times. If the leaves get brown spots it’s because of my tap water. Since I started using rain water and water from my dehumidifier, the leaves have been pristine!
