Soil Recycling Does anyone have experience with recycling/reusing their indoor planting soil? I’ve read some articles online about it but would love to hear from people who’ve actually done it. Also, even if you don’t recycle your indoor soil, what do you do with it? Right now I just add it to the outside garden but it feels wasteful. Any ideas?

Check out Gaia Green! I typically just mix in their soil amendments per their instructions and get to planting. It’s great for top dressing plants too. Personally, I still like to mix in a little fresh soil when I’m reusing some. No clue if it helps or not, but in my mind it does, so I do.

An easy way to recycle old soil is to add more nutrients like slow release ferts/manure. Old soil also tends to not hold water well but you can increase water retention with vermiculite and compost/worm castings. I also like to mix in charcoal to help remove unwanted toxins and orchid bark so there is more organic materials in the soil.

I fertilize with worm castings and the blue stuff (based on app recommendations and my own intuition). Should I still add slow release to the soil. I’m also a bottom waterer if that matters.

I know a lot of people bake their soil at a low temp and then mix in fresh compost after to reuse. Maybe look into that on YouTube?
