Can anyone recommend a leafy hanging plant which is not toxic? Along the lines of pothos or something with larger leaves.

My first thoughts are spider plant or some sort of fern.

I would go for a Hoya 😍 not toxic to cats (guessed that based on your name 🐈), comes in many different shapes and sizes and is just an easy and cheerful plant in general 😍

Ha! I had cats for 17 years until they passed. Now I have a dog. :) I’ll look into Hoyas. I’m new to plants, so I’m still learning. Recently all of the plants that I’m drawn to are toxic. Just my luck. /)

Sorry to read about the cats but hi doggo 😍 yea, they’re non toxic to both people and animals so they’re amazing 🙏 and there are even heart shaped ones (Hoya kerrii) 🥹 But also just wanted to say that it can be possible to have a dog and toxic plants: just place them waaaaaay out of reach (hanging them in the window etc). But I had a Pomeranian so he wasn’t the biggest dog in the world 😅🤷‍♀️

Two things as a fellow pet owner who tries to be cognizant of this: there is a difference between “toxic” and “irritant.” If the plant is considered “toxic” because it has calcium oxalate, it’s not actually poisonous, it’s an irritant which just means it will bother your fluff ball’s mouth a little and it hopefully will cease and desist! It’s very hard for pets to OD on calcium oxalate because it bothers them so much that they won’t eat those plants in large enough quantities. The second thing is to be careful with spider plants or ponytail palms, especially with cats. They’re non-toxic and non-irritating but their stringy fronds actually attract my cats’ attention waaaaay more than my pothoses and succulents. If you’re still looking for something easy and completely pet-safe, I’d throw in peperomias to the suggestion box.
