My nerve plant leans to the side. I don’t think it has to do with under watering- it does wilt when under watered, but this is different- it just grows kinda sideways instead of straight up. Any ideas why? I keep it in my shower which has a skylight and west-facing window.

i think it is.. they are very thirsty plants naturally and it might be root bound as well.

The leaves look fine to me so I think it’s hydrated. Maybe try some bamboo stakes or chopsticks to prop it up until the base of the plant can support itself better. It may be trying to grow towards the brightest light or it may just need a little extra support. Hope this helps.

I did have her propped but she grew too long for the popsicle stick I had in there. I’ll try a longer stick and maybe a spot with more light until she can stand up in her own. Thank you!

My nerve baby did this as well. Its jus too heavy. I normally prune it, put the cuttings into water and put them back into the pot. The OG stems will put out new leaves too!!

The soil could be hydrophobic and repelling water

I don’t think it’s a water issue because her leaves perk up when I water her, just not the stems. But if the soil was hydrophobic, how would I fix that?

To fix hydrophobic soil if the pot has drainage holes put it in a bowl of water and let it sit and soak it up for a hour or two

Or you could just repot with fresh soil

I'm guessing from the tag you got it from home depot or lowes or a similar store? It could very well have root rot. They keep their plants sitting in water😬 I've gotten a plant from there that died off except for just a couple sprigs, I assume for that reason. Yours could be fine tho, if the stems are healthy it pry is, these plants do like lots of water.

Don’t think so- I got it for Christmas over a year ago. She has only started acting like this in the last couple months. I let her soil dry before watering again.

Ok ya that wouldn't be the problem then. It might need a repot by now but I don't think that would be causing the problem.

Yeah if it’s been a year she might have outgrown her pot that could also be why she’s have trouble standing up

Nerve plants do wilt very easily when thirsty. Problem is if you let that happen frequently, the plant will start looking really bad. That is maybe what you are dealing with. They get leggy and sparse. I gave up on mine and cut it down to the ground. It took months but it has come back. I’m doing my best not to let it wilt. So far, so good. It is a difficult balancing act. So far Planta has been on track with the watering schedule.

Maybe there’s more light than on the top
