I let my spider plant go too long without proper care! It got very root bound and hydrophobic. I was also experimenting with leaving the babies on as long as possible to see what would happen. I did cut off some of them and made a friend a plant, but for the most part I left them all attached. I’m still not sure if leaving the babies attached is bad or not. I think the roots and repellent soil was more of an issue. I’ve popped it out of the pot and trimmed off the bottom third of the root ball and refreshed the soil with some good microbes stuff. It lost a lot more leaves after that but there’s some new sprouts coming back so it will one day look as good as the second photo again! Also there were sooo many babies that I’ve propagated I’m not worried at all for this guy.

I did the same to mine and after a few months babies have started and she is full again. I have had mine since 1988 or so. It’s my oldest plant. 🌱

I LOVE the look of spider plants with their babies 😍 I’m sorry things got away from you & she went downhill, but you clearly know what you’re doing with plants & will have her looking twice as good as before in no time! You’ll have to post progressive updates 😃

Mine got root bound and repellent last summer and looked a lot like yours. It also had a ton of babies! So I cut all of them off, repotted her in new soil and put her back on the porch this summer. This is her now! It made all the difference!
