What are you all using to clean your plant leaves? I have several plants whose leaves need cleaning but I’m not sure what to use. I’m hoping to maybe be able to use some stuff I already have around the house instead of having to go to the store again

I just spray the leaves with water and wipe them with a cloth or paper towel. Occasionally I’ll put them in the shower to rinse them off thoroughly

I absolutely love Big Leaf Energy spray from Bless Your Soil - highly recommend. That being said, it appears to be made out of neem oil, essential oils, and water. If you have those at home maybe you could try out your own formula?

Neem oil! Helps protect against pest and gives them a beautiful shine once you wipe it into their leaves 🥰

I’m with nodes, especially if you’re not trying to buy more unnecessary supplies. I use a dry microfiber cloth — it’s relaxing! And a detachable shower head is a game changer for houseplant keeping if you don’t already have one

I do have one! My husband is taller than I am so we have two shower heads 😂

PERFECT! I spray most of my plants down once a month or so. And I wipe leaves with the cloth as the mood strikes

I read or saw somewhere to use neem oil and a little bit of dawn dish soap. That’s what I’ve been using and it gets my leaves right without any issues.

Dawn really? I was debating using a gentler Mrs. Meyers soap that I have, but I also have dawn!

Yup! Sometimes I use a little too much soap but I haven’t seen any negative effects, only positive.

i usually use a dry cloth every few weeks. for deep cleaning, i’ll use a few drops of castile soap in some water, dip a soft cloth in the solution and wipe the leaves down. if you have hard water this can leave water spots so i follow up with an acid rinse, or a teaspoon or so of vinegar or lemon juice in a few cups of water. i really don’t recommend using neem oil for this purpose as it’s a pesticide and ineffective as pest preventative. in fact, due to overuse, many pests are resistant or even immune to azadirachtin, the chemical in neem oil that makes it effective.

Thank you! I have a few that have water stains, but I recently brought them home and they had them when I got them so I’m just wanting to give them a good clean up! I haven’t found my tap water is harsh on my plants but if I started noticing the stains I’ll definitely try the vinegar or lemon juice
