What is wrong with this Anthurium? I bought it in water and it is still there 6 or so months later. The leave with rust looking spots is the newest leaf

Good luck with this difficult plant!! I love them and tried twice but I lost both. From what I read that “rust” is a type of fungus or bacteria. Mine had that and I did not have the knowledge to stop the spread.
0 likesIt looks like you may have thrips on that new leaf (the white specks)
2 likesThrips do cause bronzing of leaves as they feed so that adds up
1 likeNooooooo 😭 I do see some tiny tiny things moving around. I’ve had this plant for months, now I have to check and treat all of my plants I’m assuming?
0 likesYes, I would check your plants and make none of the other ones have it. I would treat any that do, but if you have the energy it wouldn’t hurt to treat all the plants just to be safe and stay on top of it!
0 likesWhat do the roots look like? If they are great, I would plant in pon as I’m a semi hydro guy with my anthuriums. Or tree fern if you didn’t wanna try pon. Just my 2 cents but leaving them in water long term has never been my thing.
0 likesHave you been providing nutrients in the water?
0 likesI think once when I first got it, haven’t been regular. Good point as all my plants in soil get regular feedings.
0 likesif the white specks arent thrip larvae, it could be fungal / not misting leaves enough. im currently fighting for my life over my anthurium
0 likesHmm maybe I took on an advanced level plant and I’m more intermediate level 🙃
0 likesI see signs of insects (little white dots among the damage.) I'd guess spider mites or thrips. Neem oil or insecticidal soap works for both. Quarantine it away from your other plants as best you can. Retreat as needed until it's clear of insects for at least 2 months
1 likeYea I think it’s some type of insect y’all, I was able to see a tiny white piece of (what I thought was) dust moving around 😭 I am pretty sure this plant is patient zero, but I’ve had her for months so I’m worried about any spread. I recently treated every plant I own in this room because I had spider mites. Here we go again….
1 likeCheck the bottom for webbing. It will look silver or bronze. Then treat it for spider mites
