I got this red Philodendrom at a plant swap in February and it hasn't changed much. The new leaves take forever to work their way free (if they do at all). I have to help it most the time and when I get them out they don't like to open. I mist it and it's near a humidifier but I'm not sure what is going on with it. It has stared a new small plant at the base and it has done well. So I'm not sure if I should split it cause maybe it's putting to much energy on the new part? I'm just not sure. Any help would be great

Thanks I will get a good light on it. I didn't think of that and it doesn't get the best light there

It’s putting out new leaves and should be able to open them while growing them as it puts out new growth. I would focus on getting more moisture to the leaves by increasing the humidity levels around it. Try to keep the humidity in the 60% to 70% range full time. You may have to enclose the plant to do so. It could also need an increase in the lighting. It may need the light closer to increase the amount of light hitting the leaves. It may need more hours of light exposure especially if it’s under a grow light. 🪴🍀
