my birds of paradise is dying yall i need help shes in an 8inch pot. i am a new plant mom just got her im misting her and trying to keep her in as much light as possible. sos! i want her to grow big and beautiful!!!!

    That looks like a good location by the window. Mine has been thriving for six months. That’s not a very long time. But here’s what seems to be working: I think it really likes this long grow light more than the little round one I was using. I put it in chunky soil. I only water when my water indicator stick turns white (photo 2) I aerate the soil with a chopstick. I use fertilizer according to directions. In six months, it’s only grown two new leaves and it lost one (yellow and died) and one bent over and broke from its own weight (currently splinted). So it’s a very slow grower for me! Did a dog or a cat shred the leaves? Maybe you can put it up higher? It’s so easy for these leaves to get shredded. Every time I accidentally touch the wall with a leaf it shreds!
