I got this peace lily from my Grandfathers funeral. I have never owned a plant before. Well, it’s not going well. My soil is damp. I water every 7 days. I just put it closer to a window. It’s a very sad plant. Does anyone know what I should do? Also, this week a worm climbed out of it, so I think that may have something to do with it.

I am not a peace lily expert, but I’m guessing it needs repotting out of the nursery soil. Nursery soil often has a lot of peat because it works for greenhouse conditions. Then you get it in your home and the plant will deteriorate. They are drama queens but I think it can be revived. Might also try filtered water once you repot. I am guessing the soil ph is too acidic. This happens due to too much peat in the soil and tap water. Then your plant won’t absorb the nutrients like it should.

Is there drainage in the pot? If you are repotting as has been suggested, be sure you have good drainage. The yellow leaves make me think excess water may be an issue.

I got a peace lily from a funeral as well. I repotted it and it did end up dying back but now the leaves are coming back in healthy and it’s been good. They are dramatic plants. I do use filtered water too.

Definitely repot with a well draining soil. They like more light than people think so close to a window is good. Resist watering on a schedule and water only when you feel the soil is dry. I stick my finger deep into the soil on my funeral peace lily and only water when it feels no moisture. Good luck! You can revive it!!
