Hi. I was just given my very first plant and I have no idea how often I am supposed to water. Help please.

Ooh pretty! Looks pretty much like a marble queen pothos. I let mine dry about 75% before soaking.

If you click on the plant's profile, you can go to Care Info and it will tell you when Planta suggests to water. Just make sure you have all your plant info added (under the gear picture in the upper right of the main plant profile) for the most accurate estimate. You'll still want to check that the soil's actually dried out enough before you water. I have a metal chopstick that I use to check dampness. If the soil is still wet, snooze the app notification.

Personally, my pothos get watered when they're dry 50-75% down the pot. They're all doing well with this schedule ☺️

Thanks everyone. I have no idea how to check for sure how dry. I did try to add all the details of my plant to my profile but I’ve had it over two weeks now and no notifications to do anything. Also, how much water and do we add from the top over the soil or from the bottom in the planter box? I know these sound like super dumb questions but I seriously have never been able to keep a plant alive and I am determined to do so with this lovely one. ❤️ Thanks everyone.

According to your plant info, you last watered her 6 days ago and you're scheduled to water again in 11 days. That sounds about right for fall/winter. I usually water my pothos every 2-3 weeks this time of year. To check the soil, you can use a chopstick or your finger. You'll want to measure about halfway down the pot. If your finger/chopstick comes up with wet soil, it's not ready for water yet. Top or bottom watering doesn't really matter with pothos, whichever you prefer is fine. Either way, you'll want to fully saturate the soil and then let the pot drain the excess water. You are missing a couple items in your plant's info, which can also have an effect on when it tells you to water. When you're looking at your plant, select the icon in the upper right (circled in red in the pic) and fill all that info in for the best result 😊

Stick a wooden skewer into the soil and if you pull it out and there’s wet dirt stick to it don’t water. If the dirt doesn’t stick to the skewer and it’s dry and crumpling water it!

I water mine once a week at the top, keep it in indirect lights and you should be good

Many many thanks. Poor peanut. Likely needs a good water.
