Hey! I am new to gardening, total beginner. I started a strawberry grow kit 2 weeks ago and they have been doing well until today.. yesterday they were growing fine (last pic), today they are drooping and leaves are a bit brown (other pics).. does anyone know what’s happened? Underwatered or overwatered maybe? I can’t think of anything else it could be..? (The grow kit provided biodegradable pots that they have been in for 15 days.. it says to plant these pots into bigger pots after “the seedlings have hardened off” but I’m unsure what this means exactly? Should I repot them now?)

Strawberries are HARD, let alone trying to grow them from seed. We planted a few strawberry plants in our berry patch. Unfortunately they rarely produce anything, other than maybe 1-2.

Do you know what causes them to droop? I’ve got another 6 plants that are all doing well but they’re all just flowers etc, these strawbs are my only edible plant so maybe I’m doing something wrong?

I don’t grow from seeds, when we bought them they were already established. They have just never produced. In my personal opinion, that’s too much soil for tiny little seeds. I would have tried growing them in a seed starter tray. My mil used them to grow from seeds and has had success growing things.

Thank you, I’ll buy one of these and see if it’s any different, do you know whether I would plant one seed in each of the trays or multiple in each? And would I be able to replant the ones I already have and see if they grow any better or should I just start fresh with new batch of seeds? Also, these are the pots that came in the starter kit so I assumed all would be fine but I guess not ahah

The soil should be moist and not soaking wet with standing water like in the picture. Looks like the soil is not draining fast enough causing excess water in those tiny plants.

I think it only looks that way as I watered them just before taking the photos, before I watered them they were pretty much bone dry, but I do water them daily. They’ve started to look a bit better since I watered and posted these photos but I’m still not sure

I would stop watering daily. You’re going to overwater them and cause damage.

I’ve noticed that whenever I miss a day of watering they tend to droop though? After watering them both yesterday morning and night, I’ve woke up to perky stems again, no drooping, so maybe I’m just not giving them enough water when I’ve watered them? I do only spray them a couple times, never soak them.

That’s possible. When it comes to actual watering, you can’t overwater a plant. Soak them. Overwatering isn’t the amount of water a plant is watered, it’s the frequency and watering too much.
