Placement question! 🪴 I have a monstera/swiss cheese and a goldfish plant that I’m thinking of moving to a different spot in my living room. It looks like you may need to open/expand the pictures to get the full view, but the first picture is where I’m thinking of placing them, in planters nailed to the wall. The second picture is a view of where they currently are, and where the only source of light in the room is. (It’s my sliding doors out to the balcony) Planta says both these plants thrive in “part sun/part shade” so does the proposed new location seem ok, or might it be too in the shade? The window where the light comes in faces east and there’s a balcony overhead, since we live in a condo building.

I don’t know about the goldfish plant, but I know my monsteras have done a lot better with more light (like where you have it now in an east facing window). That being said, I did have one several feet away from an east facing window for awhile, and it totally survived! Just didn’t thrive or grow leaves with the nice holes (I’m not spelling scientific words tonight 🤣).

That’s so good to know! My monstera is insanely long right now so I have it wrapped around a pole and I wanted to basically let it hang and be free.

Unless the sun hits that patio door directly, they currently are in part sun/part shade. Placing them on that wall would require strong grow lights. Both of those plants prefer bright light. I would think that your monstera would quickly outgrow the wall location. For grow lights, you could hang them from the ceiling.

Instead of nailing planters to the wall, what about a shelf above the tv. That would be an easy install and give you a lot more options for additional plants. And if deep enough, and you use grow lights, the shelf would block the lights from interfering with tv viewing.

      Genius, thank you!
