Hi! I got this Philodendron pink princess cutting a few days ago at a market. I’ve kept it in water to let it acclimate to my home. Do yall think it has enough roots to go into soil? And do you have any tips or tricks to make this transition successful? I’ve done research on the soil type, and im gonna use an airier soil mix with some perlite i think.

I think it needs more little roots (can't remember what they call them 🙈) a few weeks should do. Then when you put it in soil, keep it moist for a few weeks bcz it has to get used to the soil. After that just water when its dry. Not completely dry but mostly dry.

I agree with Nunyanzwx. Wait until your roots have roots (lateral root formation). Then a nice soil with a bit of added bark and perlite should be perfect for that beauty.

i can't lie i've planted props with roots that look like that and i haven't had a problem yet. just make sure to water the soil once it's settled. watering it immediately also prevents any falling accidents! useful if you're clumsy like me

I would be careful to plant it in an appropriately sized pot. Mine is super susceptible to root rot, I learned the hard way.

What size pot would be appropriate for this? I have a Burle-Marxii Philo prop (I hope that I spelled that right) that is of similar size but bigger. The prop developed roots so fast and now the roots have roots. It has been in water no more than 3 weeks. I really want to plant it into soil but I’m kinda nervous. With that being said, what size pot would you use?

They say no more than 2 inches bigger than the root system. I agree that perlite and orchid bark added to your soil is a good idea to keep from root rot.

Could i get away with just soil & perlite? I can use a seed-starting soil thats supposed to be airier. Surely it could work if i just add enough perlite? I dont have bark. I do have leca tho, could mix that in :P
