Hello! Newbie plant parent here - quickly growing my collection because of ADHD hyperfixation 😅 I’d like your advice! My son wants a plant in his room. There is barely any light. Can any of my current plants survive there? Any other easy plants I should consider? Can I get away without a grow light? I have: - Several varieties of snake plants. My daughter has been keeping a starfish one in her room with not much more light. - Several varieties of spider plants - golden pothos - marble queen pothos - heartleaf, neon and brazil philodendron - string of pearls I also have a thaumatophyllum and a monstera but those can’t be divided/propagated yet. Thank you! 😁

I would put a spider in there if you think you might be able to get away without a grow light. But tbh if you want any of those plants to thrive you need a grow light.

I keep snake plants in my kids rooms. They’re hard to kill, can tolerate low light (and will grow slower in low light, which is perfect) and they’re non-toxic.

Planta has an option in the site settings that will allow you to test the Light levels in the room. That might be helpful because “barely any light” could mean something different to you then it does to me. To me it sounds like slow death for a plant. Lol but without that information I’d say stay in the same family of the plant in your daughter’s room if they have similar light conditions.

Yeah the only window is rarely open, and when it is it’s a basement window under a balcony and facing north 😂 I think I need a grow light lol
