   Hello! Moth orchids are pretty easy as long as you know what you’re doing. First: ignore instructions to water it with ice cubes. While that technically works, it’s just not the best and placing the cubes directly on exposed roots can damage them. Instead, once a week, just set it in the sink and totally drench the medium it’s in with water. Then let it sit there for 10-ish minutes to drain. Also, make sure the medium it came in doesn’t retain too much water. Orchid roots can rot really easily if they are potted in a medium that remains moist for a while, such as potting soil. Make sure it’s potted in an orchid potting mix that’s well draining or just straight orchid bark. And finally, moth orchids usually only bloom once a year. I mention that just because I’ve had friends who think they’ve done something wrong when after a few months their orchid hasn’t made any more flowers. As long as the leaves and roots are firm and green, you’ve got a healthy orchid!
