Hey all! I recently planted my hydrangea outside. We’ve had some heavy rain and strong winds since. I’m wondering if my baby is going to live. Does anyone have any tips on what I need to do for her? Also, while planting I discovered my yard is mostly clay below the grass. SOS!

Apparently they love clay. I cannot confirm this though. When did you get the plant? Was it in bloom when you bought it? Most hydrangeas are hardy so I’d just give it some time to acclimate, dead head when the blooms die off and it should be okay 👌🏼

I planted it this past Monday and that night we had a storm come through so I wasn’t sure if that’s what made it lay flat. I bought it last week with the blooms already on it 😆

Okay. So it’s been forced to bloom early. Not really a big problem. It should harden off over the next few weeks and you’ll lose the blue flowers. When they’ve died off, cut them back to any new leaves and you MIGHT get new ones this year. If not just leave it in the ground and it’ll be fine.

Hydrangeas, with my experience are really hard to grow. At least in the soil we have outside. Every time I have tried they die unfortunately.
