Oh my gosh yall! My mother in law got me this beautiful fiddle-leaf fig and I’m over the moon with how tall she is! She’s around 3 feet tall and I’ve named her Honey, due to her being a present at our wedding shower. It was super cute, they tied money to her and made her a “money tree” to donate to our honeymoon fund!! Anyways, she’s got some bumps and spots and I just need all the information! I’ve wiped down all her leaves, watered her and sprayed her down with neem oil. I did not see any thrips, spider mites, or anything when I was cleaning her either. Help me keep her alive PLEASE 🙏🏻

Congratulations! I am no fiddle leaf fig expert. They don’t like me lol. But hopefully someone else will have some tips!

It could be fungal? I’m not 100% sure but the blotchy circles kinda give me that vibe

I’m not sure. Once I get new air-y soil for her I’ll be able to check out the roots and stuff, but until then I’m kinda just riding the wave hoping she’ll love me 😂

If they get any worse it’ll be best just to cut those leaves off :)

I cut a couple off that had bigger fungal looking spots off of her when I was cleaning her. I think ended up cutting off 4 or 5 leaves :(

Wrinkled leaves can be from a change in humidity too. How was the money attached to the plant? Maybe the marks are from that?

The money was very loosely tied with soft string to the trunk!

How long ago did she come home to you? Overall, he looks pretty healthy. If it’s only been a few weeks or a month, I’d say let him adjust to his new home before you do anything else. Keep an eye on him to see if additional leaves start to develop that fungal-looking thing. They really hate change, so he may need some time to just chill. My advice for FLF’s is always to give them the brightest light that you can, water when dry half-way down, and keep those leaves clean. But bright light is #1! 🌿

She came home yesterday with us! I’ll definitely keep an eye out and she is currently in the brightest window in my home, even though it’s a rainy day. I’ve heard that FLF are so difficult and dramatic so I’m a tad nervous. I just started my plant journey last year

The best advice I ever got was once you find a good spot leave it alone. Mine is about 2 feet away from a south facing window and it is over 6 feet tall. In the summer I put it under a covered southeast facing front porch so the breezes help it have a strong trunk. Be careful of sunburn. If you notice it starting to get some brown spots move it further from the window. Good luck!

My husband brought home one yesterday and it has the exact same thing!

I definitely think the bubbles are from the change in humidity! We got this!

This is my 2nd one and I sprayed her down and cleaned her. She was dusty from shipping and such! Good luck with yours! They can be finicky!

Your second photo makes me think it could possibly be spider mites. The drooping of the leaves too. The curly dry parts are most likely from the change in the humidity. I would check for tiny webs close to the plant or on the underside of leaves (sometimes it can even look like dust). They are really small and my fig just had an issue with them and it looked similar with its symptoms but did not have the blackish fungal looking spots. My mites were brown but they can also be white. If it is mites wash the plant with cold water they hate freezing temperatures. Good luck!

Thank you! I will give her a nice cold cold shower in a day or two!

only give it a shower if it’s dry! do you see webbing? if not, it’s likely not spider mites. just allow it to adjust to your home. could just be a little shock to so much change. good luck!
