Sometimes I struggle with depression. Like many of you, I’ve found gardening to be quite therapeutic. But on the really horrible days, it’s all I can do to just get outside. These photos were recently taken on one of those days. My hope is that they brighten your day- if only a little. There’s goldenrod at sunset, a striking satzuki azalea, a pair of lemony winter daffodil and an American strawberry bush. 🌼 May God abundantly bless you!

You’re welcome my friend. Been struggling awhile, but it’s always darkest before dawn. My prayer is that people will be more open about this issue, because it’s better to talk about things rather than keeping them inside. 😊

Beautiful photos! Also a few tips: 1: depression can be tied to how much vitamin D you get, so get like 10-15 minutes of sunlight every day and see if that helps. 2: if you're having a bad day and it's reasonably nice out, dig. You don't even have to plant anything, just pick a spot and move some dirt. Most people have ancient instincts that say digging = you'll have food stored up for winter, so you can use that to tell your subconscious mind that everything is going to be okay. I've found it's most fun when I find little pebbles, so if digging works well for you, maybe mix some glass marbles in with your dirt so you can "find" little treasures as you go.

Thank you for the wonderful recommendations. The last one about digging, unfortunately won’t work for me because of sciatica issues. My friend told me to walk barefoot in the grass. It’s supposed to ground you. It’s amazing that it helps. I don’t understand it, but it definitely works for me. Thanks again, my friend Blessings to u

For digging in the dirt, it doesn't have to be outdoors! I used to have pet rats and I loved getting my hands in their dig box. It was a tall sided storage tote with coco reptile bedding (comes in a condensed block and you soak it in water to expand it). I would add in 'goodies' for them/us to find like rocks, gems, wooden toys, and their food (that one wasn't as exciting for me to find lol). When it wasn't in use, I popped the lid on it and put it in a closet. I'm sure you could do something similar, on a smaller scale. Maybe a 8-12 quart lidded container like this one?

Absolutely! I have many more from my walks outside. I’ll post some in the future.
