Hello, I own a Venus flytrap and it seems to be dying and I don’t understand why. It was watered yesterday and it was in sunlight for about 6 hours or so. Do we know what’s going on and how to revive it?

🙈🙈🙈🙈 they’re allergic to the things in tap that make it safe for us to drink. rain water is better.
0 J'aimeI had no idea. Thank you for letting me know.
1 j'aimeCan you leave tap water out 24 hours and use it? I heard any chlorine or fluoride would evaporate. Just wondering…..
0 J'aimePot in a non nutrient soil like peat moss, only distilled water and never fertilize. They like to stay evenly moist
1 j'aimeThank you!
0 J'aimeDistilled or rainwater is best for carnivorous plants. Also make sure they’re in a substrate that does not have fertilizer or nutrients. Place the pot in a dish of water. Keep refilling when the water is low. Good luck!
1 j'aimeWhat type of water are you using? How much sunlight? VFT must have rainwater or distilled water ONLY. RO/DI or air conditioner condensation is ok too. These guys have very sensitive roots, and salts, minerals, fertilizers will kill them. Sunlight 4-6 hours direct sun or 12-14 hrs full spectrum grow light is best. Be sure to allow the plant to go dormant in the winter!
1 j'aimeThank you! I was using tap water but now I know that’s a no-go. I’ll make sure to do the rest. I appreciate your help.
1 j'aimeYou’re welcome! Be sure to top water with the clean water to rinse out any buildup in the soil from the tap water! Flush it out really good
1 j'aimei have a zero water pitcher for my carnivorous plants. i have pings and it works like a charm! you don’t have to worry about keep buying distilled water from the store over and over.
