Hi there! New here! Can anyone help me correctly identify this plant? It was a gift and there’s nothing on the label it comes with. I’ve googled just based off what I see and it looks to be a Calathea. Can anyone assist?

Amie206It’s a Calathea Medallion. Aka HEARTBREAKER. 😬. Lots of humidity, water with distilled water (HATES tap water), top 2” of soil dry before watering. Even if you do all the “right” things. It may still be fussy. I have a few calatheas AND I’ve killed a few. They just never seem 100% happy. Their beauty will forever draw you in! 😊

eatyacarbsThis needs to be said MORE OFTEN around here. Calathea are not for the faint of heart. Rattlesnake is a good starter calathea but I see a lot of sad ones here, too!

AGREE! My Rattlesnake is the happiest one I’ve got and she’s still got brown tips. She’s HUGE and I nearly lost her last fall to thrips. So I just love on her as much as possible
