My friend gifted me this plant and I’m flummoxed. Snake plant, dracena, bromeliad? I keep getting different answers.

I could be totally wrong but my best guess would be a flaming sword

One more from the side and the second from directly above so we can see the growth pattern of new leaves. Those might give us a better shot of helping to identify it.

0개 좋아요Okay, so now I am really stumped. 🤔 Based on the pinched point leaf tips and the wider tapered leaves I would say some kind of snake plant but it lacks the variegated leaves that a snake plant derives its name from and I’ve never seen a snake grow “out” instead of “up” unless it was falling over. My best guess is bromeliad based on the fact that new growth is so much lighter green than the mature growth. Bromeliads typically have showy new growth but can lose the red, orange or yellow colors if they don’t get adequate light. They also tend to grow “up” but then relax and lay down as new leaves come in. I don’t think it is a false bromeliad, (aka basket plant) based on its growth pattern but I could be wrong about even that.
좋아요 1개Thank you! I was leaning bromeliad as well. I’m hoping time will tell. 😊

좋아요 1개So strange. It looks more like a false bromeliad
좋아요 1개Oh - did not know that was a thing. But maybe?!

0개 좋아요Sansevieria bird’s nest snake plant is solid green and not variegated like your plant. So your friend gave you the right bird’s nest snake plant variety label.
