Hi, I have a dracaena fragrans. It is winter right now. For some reason my plants leaves keep browning. What might be the cause? I used bottled water to water it recently, and I try to keep the temperature 70-72 degrees inside the home. Additionally I’ve been using a humidifier. It is placed about 15 feet from a north facing window. Please help!
North-facing windows usually give the least amount of light, and being 15 feet back is going to be really tough for a dracaena. They really prefer bright, indirect light. Do you have any other windows that you can move it to?
0 likesI have a west facing window it’s right across but it’s about 20 feet from it.
0 likesI heard though that less light won’t necessarily kill the leaves, just slow its growth.
0 likes Yes it won’t die but it will grow slowly. You may have some issues with the soil holding too much moisture between waterings if it’s not able to dry out enough. Are you concerned that the light will be too intense and burn the leaves?
0 likesNo I think we just like it placed next to the couch in our living room lol so trying my best to justify it keeping it in the corner. My first watering I actually had used tap water, which I found out later was a mistake, since I’ve used bottled water.
0 likes Lol I get wanting to keep a plant exactly where it looks good! 😅 As long as you’re mindful of how much and how often you’re watering, she should chug along through the winter

Mine done the same, as soon as it started to get cold the bottom leafs started to dis colour. New growth on top though so just wondering if it’s shedding its leaf for winter 🤷♂️🤣
