There are a few brown tips on my spider plant, but I also noticed a few of these that look semi-cut. Did I do that by accident?! Or is this a pest?

yes my spider plant also has brown tips it’s pretty inevitable with them, you could try switching to distilled or rain water also to help with the brown tips

You can add a drop of “Tap water Conditioner” to your watering can. It is used in aquariums to remove chlorine, fluoride & other minerals for the health of fish. I got mine on Amazon. Spider Plants hate lime found in tap water. Or you could use rain water or buy distilled water as previously suggested.
