This is a pepper plant (serrano or jalapeno, I think) Iāve grown from seedā¦itās falling over (hence the newly added support) and I donāt know why. The roots havenāt outgrown the pot. The soil is still damp, so Iām not inclined to water yet. It has drainage space between the bottom of the plastic and ceramic pots. It sits in a south facing window. Any tips?
No tips but are you sure thatās a pepper? It looks like a tomato.

Itās a tomato plant. š It needs at least 8 hours of full sun or 12-14 hours under a grow light. Low or insufficient light can make it pale and limp. Insufficient fertilizer can make it pale and limp, as well. Use a fertilizer specifically for tomatoes, high in phosphorus. Tomatoes and other vegetables need to grow in big pots, 3 gallons and bigger. You have to repot repeatedly until itās big enough for the larger pots. Itās very late in the growing season or I would recommend planting it outside in a pot or in ground. Itās tricky.
1 Likethank you for your input, but I assure you that it is indeed a pepper plant. I cut open a pepper and saved the seeds from within. Definitely a pepper. Not a tomato.
1 Like Wow! Itās the jagged leaf edges and fuzzy texture that are throwing me off. The recommendations are the same. A fertilizer higher in phosphorus and potassium is good for the peppers.

My pepper plants did the same when I started them from a seed. Even though I had them in a sunny spot they still needed help from a grow light. They finally got a stronger trunk when I stuck them outside. I would suggest a grow light.

serrano and jalapeno plants both have smooth edged leaves ā all pepper plants that iāve grown, in fact ā bell, poblano, all smooth edges, no fuzz
