I bought this Syngonium Batik as a 2" starter a few months ago. It spent its early days in my mini greenhouse but has mostly been on a plant shelf under growlight. I'm happy with its leaf production but annoyed it's only producing pale leaves. I actually prefer the coloration of the one darker leaf. Wondering if I should give it less light?

Insufficient light or fertilizer can make plants look pale. Give it more light and fertilize twice a month with diluted fertilizer. Move the grow light within a foot of the plant are get a stronger light intensity light. 🪴🍀

Interesting-I thought it was the opposite-that plants that get too much light cut back on chlorophyll production because they think they don't need it. I do already do diluted fert in every watering.

Plants get paler leaves in less light because they produce less chlorophyll to conserve energy. Insufficient light prevents them from producing enough energy through photosynthesis, causing leaves to become pale, yellow, and eventually drop off.

Make sure you have a good grow light

Thanks for asking this question. I'm currently trying to figure this out too. Mine hasn't had a grow light, just in a bright room with plenty of indirect light. I got it a few months ago, not a starter but a 4" pot. The newer leaves aren't as dark/varigated as older leaves. Lighter one in pic is still unfurling, and definitely less dark green. I've moved it closer to a growlight, to see if that helps.
