Today I found the most amazing plant nursery I’ve ever been to. It’s called Bountiful Gardens in Lawrenceville, NJ. They have an entire room filled with miniature baby 1 inch pots of every type of indoor plant you can imagine and they are 5 for $20. The plants are all consistently healthier than any I’ve ever seen. I’m having some buyers remorse about previous purchases I’ve made because here they are less expensive and healthier. Usually I always choose plants by which ones just seem to want to come home with me. I managed to only purchase 2 plants but might go back tomorrow. I got a parlor palm and a tiny pin-striped calathea. I am a bit worried about the parlor palm. I’ve never had a palm before and I’ve read they’re prone to infestation. This one looked extremely healthy and I don’t see any problems. I treated it with mosquito bits tea and also some diatomaceous earth on top of the soil. Is there anything else I can do to keep it and my other plants safe? I posted pictures of the one I bought plus some of the others I might go back for tomorrow.

I live in NJ so I looked them up, and they have a location in Hillsborough, that’s only 20-30 mins from me! Looks like I have another to add to my list of places to visit 🤩

I hope the indoor plant collection is just as amazing. I am only disappointed that I didn’t know about it sooner! You truly won’t believe the collection they have. The peacock plants were the most beautiful I have ever seen. If I didn’t already have one I certainly would have gotten one. The prices seem very fair, too!

Imhe, parlor palm is the easiest of palms. I’ve had one for a while now in a shady spot. It still grows, albeit slowly, and has never had pests. I shower it when I water. You could also spray down any new plants as a preventative. I’m currently using a pyrethrin, neem, dish soap, & alcohol mix.

I think any chamaedorea is pretty easy too, as long as the relative humidity is not too low.
