hi all!! i just recently bought two plants for my windowless office, a golden pothos and a peace lily, as they were advertised as low-light plants and i thought they’d survive the best. do you think they’d be alright with a sunlight therapy lamp’s ambient light? i’m worried about killing them, but am planning on shining the light on them a few hours a day to make up for the lack of light. edit: if those might not do very well, which plants would you reccomend?

I suggest you buy a grow light, there are some cheap ones on Amazon. Good luck 🍀

No plant will survive with zero sunlight, no matter if they’re low light or not. However philodendron and pothos do well with a grow light. No idea about peace lilies. You’ll need a grow light on them for 8 hours if you want them to grow 😊

I like these ones! Sorry it won’t let me send a link… they have a twelve hour timer setting that works great. If you want something more decorativeg you can buy a grow bulb and put it in a decorative fixture. Hope this helps!

My pothos thrive in my bright sunroom. I can’t help but chuckle when someone says a “low light plant.” They may be able to “survive” but not thrive. There’s a clear difference. All plants require some level of sunlight.

I actually have a pothos and peace lily under a grow lamp. I’d suggest something full spectrum, and with a timer. Size of the lamp(s) would depend on your plant/space size as well so use your best judgment there. Got mines from Amazon and the reviews there were helpful as well.

that’s awesome thank you! i found one that has settings for diff brightness levels (50%, 80%, etc.) and diff timers, what do you recommend for each?

Depending on how close it will be to the plant, may not necessarily need it the highest. Adjust to the plants sun recommendation as best as possible. Plants that need indirect light and such may not need as much as something that loves direct rays for example.

My office is fully artificial light, and we have a snake plant, tradescantia, air plant, turtle vine and lucky bamboo that are all thriving somehow!

They’re my coworkers, she was expecting them to die but one is actually doing better in the office than it was at home in natural light?? Plants are weird sometimes!

I’ve literally seen grandmas put their pothos on top of their fridge or cabinets with no window and forget about them and the pothos is thriving. 🤷🏻‍♀️
