My Dad got me a rubber plant for Christmas, a burgundy one I believe. My aunt took care of it for the past month and its soil was quite soggy. I took it out of pot, the roots looked ok so I knocked off as much soggy soil as I could and repotted in dry soil. Some leaves fell off but only 3 or so and I think a couple more leaves are going to discolor and fall off. It has new growth and looks healthy I think. My question is do I need to prune it? It’s several shoots all bunched together. Also I know you can propagate them but how?

Unless the shoes are completely damaged falling, I would not prune it just leave it how it is provided a stake for support. Give it a little bit of fertilizer. It’ll be fine unless you’ve really wanna propagate but honestly, I wouldn’t especially now since it’s winter you want to do that in the spring.

With Ficus, you can dead head the top to get more branching to occur. I’d wait until it’s acclimated to its new home and has some new growth though before doing anything more. It looks like it’s be alright with continued sufficient light.
