Hi everyone! My ficus elastic tineke is super happy and has probably doubled in size in the last 2 years. That said, one of the branches has always leaned out to one side. This has never been a problem, but I can see it becoming one as time goes by. The plant is also trying to straighten itself at the top. I’m unsure if it’s one plant or two, and if it’s two plants the roots are probably completely intertwined. What do you think I should do longterm with it? Just provide a support, or should I do some investigative un-potting to see if I can straighten the whole branch/plant? Or maybe there’s something else?

I would just gently straighten it up, put a stake between the two branches, and tie them together. easy peasy!

I’d take it out of the pot and wet the soil enough to wiggle the roots apart, just enough to have them both stand up happily and not be fighting for leaf space. Like have the stems on opposite sized of the pot instead of both coming out of the middle.

Stake in the middle. Use plant tape or twine to pull the plant towards the middle. Do this gradually over time, tightening a bit more every few weeks or so until it’s upright.
