My work has a very large but leggy mature schefflera. I've been give the ok to help improve. What would you do with it? Some kind of support? So far I've chopped the left branch and cut into sections to propagate. If successful I hope to continue and give the baby plants to patients and other employees.

Some sort of stake or trellis to help support her branches could help with pushing out bigger growth!! Plus, there’s tons of diy options out there that are cute/cool vibes too

My only concern is the stalks are so mature and "woody." Will it hurt to bend them? Maybe i start with one at a time?

Don't bent the trunks. But maybe you can tie all of those trunks together on a pole or trellis. Hopefully that will will work. I've never seen a schefflera umbrella tree quite like that one lol but actually its kinda cool looking that way.

You could wire the trunks and bend them gradually. Look up bonsai wiring for how to go about it (pay attention to which way it wraps where the trunk meets the branches.) For wire, you can get armature wire at any art/craft store, or find it at hardware stores. Get aluminum or copper, and I'd guess something from 14 to 10 gauge (if it's too thin, you can double it.) Wrap the whole branch, then bend it. Cut the wire off as it grows (usually after about a month.) If the first bend isn't enough, you can rewrap and bend further.
