Anyone know how to give a plant more humidity without using a humidifier. I can’t use one because of a medical condition and the worry of mold build up. I heard misting is ineffective and can cause more harm than good. Any advice?

You can try grouping plants with similar lighting needs together to create a more humid, micro climate.

Most of my plants are quite small except for my bamboo and fish bone cactus (which still isn’t that big) I’m not sure it would make much difference unless i had huge full plants

Gotcha. You can also try using like a plastic mason jar or plastic cup to create a humidity dome if they are small.

Okay I can try that I’m just scared of crown rot

A closed environment / cabinet. Just make sure there’s air circulation in there.

Would putting something over the plants work? Plastic cover?
0 J'aimeYes, just make sure to take it off every couple days for an hour or so to allow for air circulation. Personally I use ziplock bags 🤷🏼♀️ but jars/containers work well too. Just as long as the light can get through.
1 j'aimePlastic cover works as long as it doesn’t block light. - Try a terrarium or DIY an old fish tank or reptile tank into a terrarium. - Garden bell jars, cloches, can be used. Plastic ones called mini greenhouses come in several sizes. - You can repurpose pantry storage containers. The larger square ones are over 5 liters and can be used as a small terrarium or flipped upside down as a bell jar.

I’ll keep an eye out for those! If in bright sun those might enhance the light right? Windows do so I’d assume those can.

I heard that pebble trays ineffective due to it not actually making the air humid and causing root rot
0 J'aimeHow is a pebble tray supposed to cause root rot? It goes next to the plant, not on the bottom of the pot. 🤔

a humidity chamber or greenhouse of some sort will be your best option. if your plants are small an old fish tank or similar object will likely work well. there are also small glass greenhouses like the ikea akerbar for sale. it’s about $25 usd for the larger 24” one. make sure you open the chamber for at least a few minutes each day for airflow
