Hello plant lovers, I was wondering if coffee grounds are good flor plants and their soil? I heard it recently and remember my great grandma would use them for some of her plants. Is there some plants that like it? Some who hate it? Is it fake? Thank you!

Don’t add anything that can rot. You don’t have the worms and the microbes that break those things down in your pots like you have in nature. Only use fertilizer specialized for indoor plants, and your plants will get everything they need. ☺️👍🏻

I sprinkle a little on my outdoor garden. It keeps the wombats away!

coffee is a great source of nitrogen for your plants i usually mix it up with some water as like liquid fertilizer vs straight into the soil unless its outside and then thats fine but i would add to water. either way coffee is hreat for your plants

Not all plants like coffee. I would check each plant variety before adding coffee grounds. I would also start sparingly because they can be pretty potent. All organic matter will rot in the soil that's how they release the nutrients.

Many plants benefit from coffee grounds, especially those that thrive in acidic soil and need nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. These include acid-loving plants like azaleas, hydrangeas, and roses, as well as some vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, and peppers. Why coffee grounds are beneficial: Nitrogen source: Coffee grounds are rich in nitrogen, a key nutrient for plant growth, especially for green leafy plants and root crops. Acidic soil: Coffee grounds can slightly acidify the soil, which is beneficial for some plants that prefer acidic conditions. Other nutrients: They also contain potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and calcium, which are important for overall plant health and growth. Improved soil structure: Coffee grounds can improve soil structure and water retention. Specific plants that benefit: Acid-loving plants: Azaleas, camellias, hydrangeas, gardenias, rhododendrons, roses. Vegetables: Carrots, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, and radishes. Indoor plants: African violets, peace lilies, philodendrons, pothos, jade plants, and spider plants. Other plants: Camellias, dracaena trifasciata, camellias, hydrangeas, jade plants, and pothos. Important considerations: Soil pH: Coffee grounds can slightly acidify the soil, so be mindful of the pH requirements of all your plants. A water meter with this function can help with that. Amount: Always use coffee grounds very sparingly to avoid negative effects on plant growth. Composting: Composting fresh coffee grounds before adding them to the soil can help to prevent compaction and nutrient imbalances.
