Hi all! I got this plant on Saturday, repotted it as the soil was so wet and compacted and now one of the leaves is looking really sad. I assume it’s probably been overwatered/stress of me repotting it? Should I cut off the droopy, yellow leaf or leave it? I don’t want to kill the whole plant 😭 any help is much appreciated! Thank you ☺️ it’s an alocasia black velvet

personally, i’d take off the dying leaf so all energy can go to the other leaf

I agree with Addie, even if all the leaves do die the plant will come back

the soil looks much too dense, which i think is exacerbating the overwatering. alocasia and other aroids need a chunky, airy soil to thrive. something that mimics tropical soil with lots of bark and grit.

Thanks for the advice, I’ve ordered an aroid potting mix kit which should come next week so hopefully it will be much better once that’s changed!
