Hello all! I have a very sad orchid plant. Or, perhaps the remnants of one? It was one of those grocery store orchids and though it was pretty I knew nada about keeping it alive. It was beautiful for a long time but died of bit by bit. I finally got the nerve and materials to repot it about 3 weeks ago. She’s not looking better…or worse. Does she just need time? I’ve read all the things and watched videos…I have what I think is a good mix for her growing medium and a proper pot…water her according to planta instructions. Do I just need to be patient, or is she too far gone to come back? Thanks in advance for any pointers you can share.

Adding that the few white specs on the leaves are not insects. They’re little indents. Not sure if that happened when I repotted or if that’s just a thing that happens 🥺. It’s difficult to be so clueless 🙂‍↕️

I revived a very sad orchid by just consistently watering it once a week and keeping it in a windowsill. Have patience :) it will take a while

4 months ago this plant was floppy, thin, wrinkly, and flowers were dropping prematurely with no other growth. Now it’s firm, plump, and sprouting new growth! You got this :)

Give time and back off on watering to stress the plant wich will send out a new spike with flowers

Orchids need at least 4 leaves to flower and it's harmful to the plant to stress it when it's already stressed. These need a temperature difference from day to night to bloom, so most will rebloom if they're kept near a window because it gets mildly more temperature variation than the rest of a house. Also while a plant is recovering from a health issue, you should remove any flowers to help it focus on healing.

Your orchid should recover just fine. Its largest leaf has signs of dehyration, but those may be scars from previous mistakes, as long as the younger leaves are smooth and healthy, it's okay. The leaves are a bit dark, which means they'd appreciate a bit more light. They turn a brighter apple green when they are getting enough. Other than that, just continue regular care

Thank you so much! I thought perhaps it was getting too much light so recently moved it farther from the window. I shall move it back right now. Thank you again!
