🌱🚨PLANT RESCUE HELP🚨🌱 This is my second attempt at rescuing a variegated Alocasia… any advice and/or thoughts and prayers greatly appreciated Bought it when it was in wayyyyy too big of a pot and had some major root rot 🥲 Hoping this one will survive with help Have attached a stick to it for stability and I let it stay in the original pot for 24hrs before downsizing to my smallest pot with a mix of regular potting soil with added perlite and peat moss Keeping it in the bathroom near a north east facing window

a north facing window is not enough light. humidity levels in bathrooms are also not consistent, which isn't ideal and can cause fungal infections. alocasia should be in an east or west window, or a few feet away from a south window. sunlight affects how quickly a plant uses the water in the soil, so a north window will make the plant use less and sit in a wet pot for too long. since you're having trouble with it being floppy i recommend putting it near a fan so that the wind stimulates it to make stronger leaves.

Alocasias like really consistent moisture levels. I've found self-watering pots helpful, but I would not recommend repotting it again until it's recovered. Figure out how often it needs it, then water on a schedule like clockwork. They don't want to fully dry out. Your alocasia's last leaf looks pretty healthy, so I expect it'll recover well. These can be drama queens and do shock easily. If it drops its leaf, continue care (with reduced watering because it can't use it as fast) to give the roots a chance to send out another leaf. If you go a long time without a leaf, you can check the root mass; treat any healthy looking corms like new propagations and toss any that look dead

Thank you!! Im always unsure about self watering pots- I’ll see how it goes for now and once it has recovered and whatnot I’ll maybe look into it :)
