This is what my Chinese Evergreen was potted in for over a couple years. Repotted it the other day and the roots hadn’t even grown out of the original root ball that it had when I potted it up the first time. I saw new leaves and assumed it was thriving. It’s in a smaller “pot” now so I’m hoping the roots won’t take long to get established and hopefully root bound!

It’s looking healthy. Chinese evergreens are so pretty…love the pinkish ones.

At the roots all visible in the root ball, or is it possible they’re being restricted by a root “plug”? A lot of nurseries use plugs, which involve a fine mesh or other material surrounding the original root ball, but it can be a reason they don’t expand like that

No, this is a cutting I’ve had for a couple years now. That’s why I’m a little disappointed in the root growth. I’ve watched this thing grow and bloom like it was in its natural habitat lol. I love that it’s still with me tho. Few roots and all.
