Hey plant friends! I have this Moses-in-the-cradle plant I was gifted a cutting in April and it’s growing very well! But it’s getting top heavy. If I don’t have that chopstick in it would fall over. Is this plant suppose to be a trailing plant? Should I put more soil to try to hold it up? Could I cut top pieces off to propagate?

Here’s an example of one trailing! Once they grow long enough, they’ll fall to the side and start growing down.

Would this be ok to take some clippings to propagate? I don’t really want 1 long trailing plant. If I can get more to fill up that would be great! But don’t want to cut before knowing I won’t kill it🙈

Yeah, you can eventually fill out a pot by propagating. Yours looks a bit hungry for more light though. Do you have a way to get it more light by chance? Something like a west-facing window or a grow lamp. I would hesitate to chop it before it gets a little sturdier. I’ve had some cuttings not do well when I took them from a tender plant

I am in the process of putting a shelf together that gets good light from an east-facing window that my plants seem to do well with so I can put more plants there. But also have room by my west facing window and a grow light I could move the plant. I def want the plant to be sturdier before cutting to make sure all can thrive :)

Tradescantias are ground covers that spread by running along the ground. The vines are too flexible to stand upright. Mine is growing from a few pots and runs along the pool decking. The runners grow over each other so they look tall.
