Is it important to mist plants? That is something I have never done before.

Misting plants is actually a bad idea, because according to experts, it doesn’t actually raise ambient humidity for more than a few minutes, and makes it very likely for plants to get pests or fungal infections. It’s the same with pebble trays, although they’re slightly less likely to cause infections. A humidifier is the only way to actually raise humidity.

1 LikeYou’re correct about the humidity thing, misting doesn’t help with that long-term, however the pests thing is questionable. Pests like aphids, melee bug, thrips, etc can be prevented by regular misting. It really depends on the plant. Something with “hairy” leaves like an African Violet shouldn’t be misted, as misting is more likely to cause mildew than not misting is to cause thrips. Something tropical like a Monstera is more likely to benefit from misting. One thing I feel like people miss with misting: Use distilled water! Tap water and even purified water contains minerals that will build up on the plants leaves.

There is a setting somewhere in planta to turn the misting notifications off.
