Anyone have any idea why my swiss cheese plant’s leaf is turning yellow? The other leaf to the left is curled but has always looked that way, and the rest of the plant is bright green. Watered about 8 days ago
Guzmania bromeliad is sick with yellow and brown spots. I’m not that familiar with this plant and normally keep it under my grow light, but I put it under the sun since it’s pretty sunny today right now any tips would be very helpful.
Anyone know what these white spots are? It's something I haven't seen before. I've been fighting with this plant to keep it alive for years and it's finally doing really well. 🤷♀️
They’re almost going to die the cold has started 😭😭
I accidentally watered my plant with moldy water (I used my watering can which apparently had grown some mold on the inside). What should I do? I watered straight from the tap after I realized. This is my favorite plant and I don’t want to lose her!
Hi! I am exteremly new to planting, I was wondering if anyone can help me with this problem I have. I got both of these greek oregano plants at the exact same time, they have both been living in the exact same conditions, everything has been the exact same with them, yet one of them is dying, and I don't know what to do, and one of them is thriving.
Does anyone know why my Thanksgiving cactus looks like this? I changed the soil because she was rotted and now she still looks like this after a month of being repotted.
i picked up a flamingo lily off the street, pot included, that was signposted as free outside someones house. i've repotted & watered it but cant seem to diagnose what mistreatment it has faced.. can anyone help?
Plants are supposed to be my relaxation and inner peace hobby. I love tending to them, but I do not overly baby them. If I can’t keep them alive then so be it. I don’t like giving up but I’m not ripping out hair worrying about how to make the seventh treatment work. I’m not measuring exact remedies, I’m not keeping species I don’t like, and I’m reminding myself that a pest is not the end of the world- even when we feel like it is. I brought home a beautiful String of Pearls, absolutely huge. What came home with her? Aphids. Now it’s cool because I’m taking entomology and I’m actively seeing dead aphids, spider mites, thrips, and mealy bugs under microscopes (they weren’t all so lucky to munch another day). That also means I’m getting super picky looking through my plants. I take a look for pests when I water or prune, but I want to take in my plants for their beauty and not for the potential problems. I used dawn dish-soap and warm water on that SOP today after reminding myself of my peace and not the problems. I took her out of the pot, soaked her with her root ball, and repotted in higher draining soil. I lost minimal amounts of pearls, including some rotting ones which maybe are the aphids fault. I crushed and drowned at least 30 aphids, it was cool seeing them just float off into the water. I half-heartedly quarantined her, at least until I treat again in 4-6 days. But she was already next to dozens of other plants. I won’t treat them until I find aphids, then everyone gets a soapy water dousing. Preventative is good, but I won’t put myself through the busy work just yet… I want to see who is susceptible and who isn’t. The hardier the plant, the more I want it in my collection. I think a lot of people can attest to the stress, feelings of failure or simple desire to burn an entire collection when we get pests. In the grand scheme of things, plants are supposed to be hobbies… and if one is taking the joy out of it, you have to consider how much you really need to save it. I try for the learning experience and if I fail, maybe it wasn’t the right plant or the right time. Any decision is okay as long as it makes you happy and satisfied with your collection. There’s always more plants… and you can always chop & prop and let the rest of the problem child go. I’m newer to the hobby and am dreading the day when I get a huge outbreak, but I will not allow myself to become overwhelmed with plant chores and pests and I will not keep things that I don’t genuinely get excited about sharing with others. So at the end of the day when you stress about them at night, remind yourself this is your collection and your choice. Plants are resilient, you are capable of experimenting, and don’t let the stress overwhelm you. ☮️
Hi all! Fairly new to the plant world but have had my weeping fig (Benny) for around a month and a half now, and when checking on him this evening I’ve noticed this sticky stuff on the underside of some of the leaves, and the top of the leaves that have this on seem to be going yellow?? From doing an inspection, i cant see any bugs on him Does anyone know what this is, and any advice on treating this?
Little white bugs crawling around after I watered my orchids. I heard there is a bug that’s good and does no harm to plants and then there’s the common pests. Is this a good one?
Why are these here and what do I do? It’s a truly tiny banana
Why are my leaves turning brown in certain spots? can someone please help me identify what’s wrong with my plant 😭
Help! My alocasia venom arrived with this big yellow circle. Scared it might be something bad. I paid too much for this is kill my plant.

Hi there, what’s wrong with my snake plant?
Alocasia odora Variegata Hi, i bought this plant 4 days ago. I noticed that one of the leaves the edges are really thin and delicate looking. As days went on, I saw it started to brown. It does get plenty of sunlight and I’ve put it next to a humidifier. Anybody know what I can do to prevent it from getting worse? Thank you
These dangling white dots are lacewing eggs. Lacewings are beneficial insects and not pests. Their tiny alligator shaped larvae have pincers that catch aphids, scales, mealybugs and other destructive insects. I’m hoping these hatch before I have to bring my Hoya Waymaniae and other plants inside for winter. 🪴🍀
Hey everyone ! How are we all ? I have a problem with botrytis constantly forming on my topsoil of houseplants for some reason. I am not exp at using fungicides and I have tried tumeric as a natural remedy and it didn’t work. I also tried scrapping topsoil off but no luck as fungus spores have percolated deeper. Does anyone have any suggestions? It seems most soil I buy has botrytis in now 😖 Thanks
